Natalie Ryan followed with a 9-under to jump into solo second place, one stroke ahead of Holyn Handley, who had a wild day in Iowa. Handley was 10-under through 13 holes before her first bogey. She bounced back with birdies on 15 and 16 before 17 — which remained the hardest hole on the course scoring-wise — derailed her with a triple bogey. A birdie on the 18th gave her a 9-under finish with just three pars on the scorecard.
Eliezra Midtlyng will round out the lead card for Sunday in a tie for third with Handley, four strokes off of the lead.
Adam Hammes doubled his score from Friday's opening round, going from 7-under to a blistering 14-under showing on Saturday. Hammes birdie six of the first seven holes and strung together six-straight on the back for his 1091-rated (unofficial) round to jump three spots into the solo lead.
Anthony Barela turned in a 12-under day and Round 1 leader Matthew Orum kept pace with a double-digit effort as well. They're tied for second with a 19-under total, two strokes back from Hammes.
Evan Smith jumped 18 spots into a tie for fourth with Kevin Keifer III with a 11-under day and will round out the lead card heading into Sunday in Iowa.
