What an awesome day we had!!!

We had 9 players come out. Seven women, one guy and one junior. Later in the round we had another woman and 3 juniors come. They all had such a great time and we have at least 4 women that i know of that is hooked and plan on coming back out. Also the juniors had a blast and they want to come out and play.

Thanks to Rocco, Jerry, Joey, Nick, Simon and Mike for the help. You impressed everyone with your patience and teaching skills. What an awesome Temple Team!! One thing I learned today is that it is about having fun. I am hoping that Monday when these people go back to work they will talk about what an awesome time they had and next time we will have more. After today I would like to plan on doing it again and shooting for a bigger number.

Thanks again to everyone!!!!! I really appreciated all of you (except Rocco....j/k :D)

I sent the e-mail to Mike today and will be letting the word about the club out to everybody else at Simon's mini.
The only problem is that I forgot that I (and Hate too) have a fantasy baseball draft that day. So I probably won't be able to play in the singles round and might not even be out there until after singles is over. I might have to work something out where someone else could help anounce it before the mini starts.

I also sent an email to Gordon of the Waterloo Disc Golf Club to see if we could use their membership form as a kind of template for our own membership form. I will have these done and ready for handout for Saturday as well as women specific bag tags and couple of mens tags for those that don't have them yet.

Okay Ladies (no not you Rocco).....

It is time to plan our first official ladies day at the Temple Course. This will happen Saturday April 9th. We will meet at teebox 1 at 10:00am. Tee time will be 10:15am. This will be singles format. Depending on how many women we have we will try and run 2 cards (yes we are keeping score). After the morning round there will be a CTP on hole 7. There will be prizes for the best score and for the CTP.

On a different note; wut a great turnout we had for Simon' mini...Over 30 people in bad weather conditions, thats awesome. Im happy to say Im a member TDGA for only $20 cant beat the great cause (New Course). :cool:

We did have quiet a great turnout for the mini. Simon had an awesome CTP!! The weather was bad but people stuck it out and had a great day of golf.

I can say that i am a proud member of the TDGA also and am already out getting sponsors for those baskets :) Already have one sponsor who i know is sponsoring 1 basket and will try to get 2 out of him. Have some more contacts to make this week for a few more sponsors. That second course will be in before you know it.

I asked Fabrezio if he wanted to donate to join (since he got second in dubs and third in singles, i.e. he had the money) and he was like "What do I get out of it? We need card escorts for all rounds. You will be making our women disc golfers feel special and giving some time back to the sport we all love. Give Jay Reading a heads up if you can make it one day, both days or just for one round, [email protected]

Escort Meeting 8:45 both Saturday and Sunday
TWC Player Meeting 9:00 Saturday , Start 9:00 Sunday

Escorts need to be there for the meeting or will have to wait to help the next round. We can't have escorts joining cards after the rounds start. Everyone is welcome to spectate. We will random draw for escort cards at the meeting.

Duties:
-Keeping Scorecard and taking scores
-Spot on blind holes
-Manage card order
-Ensure PDGA Rules (clarification only on request)
-Record CTP's
-Maintain speed of play
-Double check completed scorecard and return to HQ
-Professional on all levels

The goal is to make the tournament enjoyable and memorable for all of the participants. There will be women representing all skill levels and the escorts are to help all levels feel the same way about our wonderful sport.

Benefits:
-Helping out a great tournament (giving back to the sport)
-Food after the second round saturday
-One raffle ticket per round of help for a volunteer raffle
-9-hole Escort Mini (three disc challenge) between rounds

The benefits hold much more weight than the duties

I-35 north if coming from SA to RR 620, take a left back over I-35 and go to O'connor, you will see the HEB on right. take a right at that light go to 1st stop sign take another right course is on right just pass the privacy big open field on your left. from north take I-35 south and take 620 to your right and than same directions

Well today we had our first ladies day!! We had a total of 9 women come out to play. We played one round of 18. Linda was our winner and Rose was in a close second. Doreen got the CTP prize. All the girls had fun and are looking forward to doing it again!! Big thanks to Linda for helping out on the second card!!

What a great weekend. We got to play 3 of the best courses in Tejas one last time. Had a group of about 15 people from Temple. Jerry Dosey aced hole 13 on Greenbelt to start his and Joeys round on Sunday morning. Rocco and I tied for 4th, Jordan and Scotty (AKA Soothe) finished in 13th to finish off the tourney. Wut a fun week, I just did not want to come home this morning and go back to work. :)

That was definatly a great weekend. Hate, we should have known we can't trust an Okie but 4th was way better than what I expected. We even got two more people to join the club. That brings the number up two fourteen in two weeks and there is still 6 people who have said they will join but haven't paid yet.

Big fun this weekend! All the T-town boys did great, Special thanks to big steve for watching the camp for us!

That joke has quickly turned into a black eye for all those from Temple who attended this great event. We do not want to be represented in this way. John Houck called me and he knows about the big steve situation. We owe it to John Houck to find a way to make this situation right and keep the Temple disc golf community's name in good light.

I will be talking to big steve tomorrow. If he doesn't step up to the plate then I will be returning my players pack as well as paying the camping fees that he owes.

My apologies go out to Mr. Houck and hopefuly he will know that we have many honest and good hearted people that would do the right thing in any situation. Please do not let one bad apple change your view of our disc golf community.

On another equally sad note, Mr. Houck informed me that there seems to be a guitar missing that belongs to one of the volunteers. It came up missing on Monday (the only people on the ranch that day were a team that consisted of one guy from Abiline and one guy from Schrieveport whose volunteered to have their car searched and some of the Temple crew) so I will be talking to everyone that was still present at the ranch that day. I hope nobody from Temple grabbed it and it is just a case of misplacement and it will soon be found.

Get those women from work on the bandwagon and while your at it don't be afraid to put pressure on the women out on the course that haven't joined yet. Just tell them to get them dues up and run all their Franklins.

A family membership discount or something of the like would have been a good idea (to get the ladies of some of these guys in the club to join) but this year we are trying to raise every bit of money we can when it comes to making money for the new course. Next year we should definatly have something like that though.

I have noticed the past couple day Jordan has been picking up trash during his rounds. Lets all help him out by throwing all our trash in one spot to save him some time! :DJust kidding, way to go Jordan!

Rocco you cannot miss it. I saw it this morning from a block away. It is up by the grill under the tree.

We need to get that chair and anything else that dosn't belong,off the course today. We have a mini Saturday, and I'm sure that there is going to be some out-of-towners here.That just makes us look bad.

Gotta say thanks to Simon, Big Hate, Rocco, and the rest of the Temple bunch for putting on another funfilled day. I am not too sure you guys should be concerned about losing your tags to any of us from Waco. Temple golfers are improving quickly. Big Hate seems to be leading the way. With daylight savings here we will probably be making the trip down there in the evenings again ever so often. Anyway, Waco will always support the TDGA. You guys got it going on.

On saturday the local store out by the lake is having a customer appreciation day. The owner was kind enough to let us set up a little station where we can introduce those stopping through to disc golf. A radio station will be out there from 3-5 and we might even get some radio time for the Temple Disc Golf Association.

I talked to Mike today and he seems okay with the idea of the club and handing things over to the elected president. I will be meeting with him Saturday to help out plotting the new course at Lions. He told me that the TDGA account has $1,700 in it. That means even with the $830 that we have raised in the last month we are still a little short of 9 baskets. If you haven't joined the club yet I beg of you to please join soon. The sooner we get your money the sooner we will be able to get those baskets.

Also, if anybody reading this has joined the club and wants to run for one of the official positions (president, vice president, accountant, or secretary) please contact me as soon as possible. Thank you.
