If the ladies arent heading to Waco this weekend, come on down to Twin Parks. We have about 15 signed up so far.

Saturday, June 11 the Ladies of Live Oak will be joining the Texas Outdoor Womens Network at Twin Parks Country Club for a wonderful day of disc golf and relaxation. www.twinparkscountryclub.com (http://www.twinparkscountryclub.com)

We will tee off at 9:00 so please plan to be there before then. I am trying to avoid the heat so we need to start as early as we can. There are two courses at Twin Parks and would like everyone to sample both of them. We will all play 9 holes on the Shire and 9 holes on the Hill course.

9:00 tee off
11:00 Lunch
12:00 tee off
2:00 MARGARITAS!!!

Twin Parks Country Club has a pool for our use that day. Please bring swimming clothes if you are interested. Please visit the www.twinparkscountryclub.com (http://www.twinparkscountryclub.com) for more info concerning the country club. This place is super cool, brand new and very nicely decorated. There are snacks and drinks available for purchase at the country club.

The lunch will be as followed:

Citrus marinated breast of chicken, char grilled to perfection, then topped with grilled pineapple relish. Accompanied by herbed cous cous and marinated asparagus. Served with you choice of drinks and bread rolls.

The cost per person for the greens fees and lunch will be $15.00.

We will have discs for your use and plenty of prizes so dont miss out.

Bring plenty of drinks, and good attitudes.

See ya there!!

Jun 07 2005, 10:58 PM

I might go to Lago, it's been a while since I've played it, and lake Travis does sound good for a swim or a boat ride...If anyone is offering??
I probably will not decide until Saturday.
Maybe see you guys in Temple Saturday morning if you want to try to take tag #3 from me...and I do mean try!

Jul 01 2005, 12:35 AM
A group of Temple players (anywhere from 3-8 depending on attendence) have been playing pro in the minis here exclusively for the last 4-6 months. Our mini's are 2nd Sundays and 4th Saturdays. I know that one of these mini's is on the same day as Moody's Pease Park minis (not sure which one) but that should leave us with one that doesn't conflict with anybody elses mini's.

I hope nobodys feelings are getting hurt over this. I don't see it as a "you don't come to our mini's, so we wont come to your mini's" issue (I hope nobody else does either). I think it is more of a I have other plans in my schedule issue for everybody, which is just fine.

By the way, the baskets that we ordered for the new course are now on their way to us here in Temple. Work for the new course will be starting very soon. I'm thinking we may put the baskets in first and then the teeboxes.

Also their will be some upgrades (depending on your opinions of them) done to Rotary park. Hole number nine has had another pin position added to it. The basket is in the new pin position already making it an anhyzer shot. The plan is to also have alternate pin positions for holes six, seven, and thirteen.

Jul 04 2005, 02:14 PM
hey heres the directions.....I-35 S to Main St/436 exit....stay in L lane exiting and turn L at stop sign following the 436 signs. Then turn L under I-35, you'll see the 436 sign again, up to the stop sign and go straight ahead still on 436. You'll go past the firework stand, and the speed limit goes up to 65, go about a mile or so until you see 1123, turn R onto 1123. Follow this for a few miles, you'll go over the lampassas river and you'll need to turn R onto ARMSTRONG RD which is the first R you can make after going over the bridge. Follow armstrong for about a mile then turn L onto SUMMERS MILL RD...Jeni's place is on the L about 5 trailers down /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif :D Everyone is invited :D

Mini info: Mini is this Sunday. Sign up by 10:00, start at 10:30 (yes it will be hot). Five dollar entry for Rec., Int., and Adv. (payout in plastic). Eight dollar entry fee for Pro (payout in cash). Their will be a two dollar optional acepot. If no ace is hit during the mini then we will have a ctp for half of the money that was entered into the acepot that day (ex. if 36 people enter the acepot then the ctp will be $18).

Directions from Austin: Drive north on I-35, take a right at Hwy 93 exit. Take a right on Hwy 93 and go 3.5 miles east until you reach 5th street (you will pass one light with a church to the right of it, then you will drive up and down a big hill. 5th street will be the second left available after you reach the bottom of the hill). Take a left on 5th street and drive untill you see limestone boulders (or a bunch of cars) on your lefthand side which mark our course.

Jul 05 2005, 02:28 PM
Forgot to ad that Rec. and Int. will be throwing from the shorts and Adv. and Pro from the longs. There will aslo be some ctps during the round (one for women, one for short boxes (can be won by man or woman), and one from long boxes) thanks to donations from Vinnie (shirts) and Joey Roper (Hemptastic Jewelry).

Jul 05 2005, 02:43 PM
Sounds great. Is there a course map available? Whats the name of the course?

Jul 05 2005, 04:39 PM
The name of the park is South Temple Community Park. We usually call it Rotary park because The Temple Rotary Club put up the money for the disc golf club. There is a course map on the park billboard by the parking lot at the course. I also have scorecards with maps on them. PM me if you are in need of a map/guide and I can meet you out there if you are plannig on coming down.

Jul 05 2005, 04:42 PM
No maps online? Send me one and I will put it up on Centxdglove.com

Kinda wanted to get a feel for the course while at my desk. :DDoes anyone have a map that they can email me?

Jul 05 2005, 04:48 PM
I'm not that computer savy but I can try. Pm me your e-mail adress.

Jul 05 2005, 04:49 PM

Hole Distance
1 274 ft.
2 441 ft.
3 262 ft.
4 638 ft.
5 290 ft.
6 651 ft.
7 331 ft.
8 201 ft.
9 335 ft.
10 204 ft.
11 266 ft.
12 274 ft.
13 352 ft.
14 653 ft.
15 645 ft.
16 352 ft.
17 233 ft.

Jul 05 2005, 05:04 PM
Joel is the MAN!!!!!

Jul 05 2005, 05:07 PM
That is our course. Never seen it from that view before but now I know how my firebird sees it after I throw an overhand thumber with it.

Jul 05 2005, 05:10 PM
:DNow we are on it like white on rice. Now it is time to make the course map with distances. :D

Jul 05 2005, 05:15 PM
Ok who are the ones that live at the park? Please identify your car. :D

Wow /msgboard/images/graemlins/ooo.gif That is awesome!

Jul 05 2005, 05:19 PM
I am the man with the arsenal called technology! :D

I will make sure to where a black ski mask to the mini so everyone knows who to stay away from. :oJ/K people.

Jul 05 2005, 05:23 PM
Who is that squating under the tree on the left? Missy, you know better than that.

Jul 05 2005, 05:29 PM
I know......just hate when my disc lands up under that tree and I have to crawl up under there and get it  Especially knowing what you guys do under that tree :o

Jul 05 2005, 05:37 PM
Now we can see you from above to make sure your just getting your disc. :ohehehehe 4 twanky!!!

Jul 05 2005, 05:38 PM
Can someone point me to where hole 1 is on the arial so I can over lay the course map onto the satilite image?

Jul 05 2005, 05:48 PM
Hole 1's teebox is that brown spot that you can see on the close up image of the parking lot.

Jul 05 2005, 06:11 PM
:D

Jul 05 2005, 06:16 PM
It would be easier to just draw the fairways and tees out on the image rather than tying to get these two images to match up. Here where I am now but I gotta do some work today. :(

http://www.centxdglove.com/uploads/templemap.jpg

Jul 05 2005, 07:13 PM
Thats pretty sweet. The only thing wrong that I see is that fifteens long box should be that white dot that is an inch below and a tad bit left of where it is now.

Jul 05 2005, 07:19 PM
Really? Maybe I can mod it out a lil more. :)

Jul 05 2005, 07:30 PM
Upon closer review I can see a few more errors. To lazy to list them right now.

Jul 05 2005, 07:32 PM
Yeah, I think it would be better to have a local plot the tees/baskets and then just send it to the proper recipients. ;)

Sweet view of the course . Sunday mini, :( I will be in Dallas.
Again I want to thank Beagle Sack for letting everyone put their meat on his grill last night  /msgboard/images/graemlins/ooo.gif :o

Jul 05 2005, 10:03 PM
Dang Hate, enough with the freakn' meat joke /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif That was a great party and fireworks show ...maybe I'll have to fly out next year for the 4th....Someone picked up a white 150 JLS last night, it's the one Rocco gave to Jeni so if ya got it give it back please :p

Jul 05 2005, 11:55 PM
Hate, nobodys worried that the person that usually gets the "just out of the cash" place won't be there.

Whoever has that JLS, give it back.

The plan for Lions is to dig the holes for the basket sleves tomorrow. Then on thursday have the sleves cemented in the ground. On Saturday or very, very early on Sunday have the baskets put in place. This way on Sunday, after the mini, people can go out to Lions if they want. We will have the spots where the teeboxes will be marked with flags.

Jul 06 2005, 03:57 AM
Don't forget your gloves Rocco....last time that one basket about tore you up :D

Jul 06 2005, 04:15 AM
Going to have the auger in full effect this time though.

Jul 06 2005, 05:54 PM
You guys got some long holes out there. I will have to bring old faithfull along with me. Its all pretty open right? Not much chance of losing your disc? I want to pull out the first run Valk. Its been awhile since I have chunked that baby.

JasonChaffin
Jul 06 2005, 07:29 PM
Tall weeds along the creek, and trees w/ thorns that gobble up discs, other then that it is open. Lost my ce valk just the other day on 14 along the creek,Texas Flag dye :( :( :(

Jul 06 2005, 10:00 PM
There aren't many trees but the ones that are out there are well placed. The chance of loosing a disc depends on your skill level and your luck.

Jul 06 2005, 11:58 PM
did you finish with the holes at lions rocco?

Jul 07 2005, 12:17 AM
Well...we finished out the second pin placement on the 7th hole. Still have to do holes eight and nine. Might have to do it manualy. We might start puting in the sleves for the holes we have ready depending on whether or not I can get in touch with the city people about the concrete situation (to see if they have concrete for us or if they will reimburse us if we buy it)

Whaudup fools? Looking forward to Sunday! Whats the odds of losing a disc on that course? Just wondering which selection I should bring.

Negative thinking will lead to negative results. I would say 5-10% of losing a disc (and this would probably be on the higher end). I would suggest bringing all your discs and using your most prized ones on the holes you feel comfortable that you won't lose a disc on (there are plenty of these holes).

Efrain, we may be puting the baskets in their sleves out at Lions depending on how much work we get done today. There will be some people out at the Rotary course but I expect less traffic out there because the Lewisville TX 10 is being held this Sat.. Let me know if you plan on coming out.

Jul 07 2005, 07:32 PM
Shweet. Whats an average score out there? Whats the course record?

Jul 07 2005, 07:43 PM
Course record is a 47 from the longs by Mike Olse. Average score for most Temple players (the ones who play Open in the minis) is around 60. If there are no out of towners the person that wins Open usually shoots 57-58.

Here is an overview of the skill levels at our minis.
Open division - Temple players that have a rating that puts them in the Int./close to Adv. range play this.
Adv. division - we usually don't have one because everybody plays open but if we do it is filled with the same people as above except they would be the ones scarred to play with the big-boys.
Int. division - decent rec. players (play from the shorts), 54-55 usually wins
Rec. division - weekend warriors, shooting a course par (58) from the shorts usually wins

Jul 07 2005, 10:36 PM
It is looking like the new course at Lions won't be in by Sunday after all. I'll keep everybody posted.

Jul 07 2005, 11:02 PM
Thanks for the info and the update. I think I will be playing open. What about you Efi? :D

Doug Roc-n-Roll Outlaw took pro w/ a 57
Norcal, and Vinnie 58
Mark Bowman 59
Big Hate just out of the cash place w/ a 61

Doug and Norcal took 1st in doubles, in a playoff w/ Vinnie and The Ninja. Boom Boom and Big Hate (Or should I say I took it) take 3rd :D
----------
Kwah took 2nd in Int (Yes Kwah bagged), cant remember the guys name who took 1st  Gabe got a CTP during the round. No ace so ace pot $450 and going up :D

3 women Keela, Christin, and  dont know how they placed.

No Rec division everyone stepped up to int. Total of 20-25 people. Alright turnout :D

So how is the weather over in Iraq, Diacasaurus :D

Jul 11 2005, 11:12 AM

Jul 11 2005, 11:44 AM
Did anyone beat my position for CTP for the singles round?

JasonChaffin
Jul 11 2005, 11:48 AM
You won CTP on 8 Grunion. Thanks for coming out and supporting our mini all of you out of towners :D

I took 1st place in most cold beer consumed ;)

Jul 11 2005, 11:55 AM
Hey thanks for having us. What did I win? :D

Jul 11 2005, 12:36 PM
Women: Keela took 1st, Natty 2nd and Christin 3rd.

Natty took the CTP and won an anklet and Grunion you won a shirt for CTP. I have both of your prizes in my car.

Glad you guys came out and played. Also great to see you Vinnie :) Sorry I had to run off so quickly but had to get a kiddo to summer camp. See you at LOSO Vinnie!

Jul 11 2005, 12:56 PM
Can someone please inform Natty that 2 meters is 6 feet. The metric system is killing her game. :D

Jul 11 2005, 01:32 PM
OK people, lets get some freaking night golf together. That course is perfect for it. Is this something that is feasable?

Jul 11 2005, 01:39 PM
The park curfew only gives one hour of playing after the sun goes down (at the moment). When the sun starts going down at 5 then it would be feasable.

seewhere
Jul 11 2005, 01:44 PM
its actually

2 meters = 6.561679833333333 ft

Jul 11 2005, 01:49 PM
That extra .56 has costed me several strokes. Thats an extra ~7 inches in my favor. :oWhy the heck are we using the metric system in our rules anyway? Can we go to the metric system or at least get the desciption printed in feet and inches for people like me :D

wheresdave
Jul 11 2005, 02:59 PM

Jul 11 2005, 03:10 PM

Good luck getting this done. I think he is actually only awake a total of 3 hours...and that is spread out over a 24 hour period. Just hope that those 3 hours are during the day so that he can delegate...i mean "work" at the new course  :D

Jul 11 2005, 06:10 PM

You want to talk about how I can't wake up and do work but for the last four days you been dodging the work at the course. :D This is Texas. You got to deal with the heat.

Anyways, I cleared a bit more on hole 8, cut a wider path to walk up the hill on hole 7, and cemented 5 sleves in the ground. Norcal, I plan on getting the rest of those sleves in the ground around 6:00 p.m. tomorrow so keep your schedule open.

That's right. Surveying flags mark where the boxes are. No short boxes are marked so you will have to make your own (or use the ones from the mini if you remember where they are) boxes if you want to play from the shorts. Course sign is next up on the agenda and will hopefully be done in a week/week n'a half.
